Learn about Colors Yellow and Red Preschool Lesson Plan

by Carla on July 27, 2012

This preschool lesson plan will help you teach children in daycare about the primary colors red and yellow. The activities below will introduce children to the colors red and yellow through a circle time activity, stories, a cooking activity, a writing and literacy activity , a cooking and snack activity, a creative arts activity,  and a field trip. For each activity you will find the materials, instructions and discussion starters (verbal cues). This lesson plan works well in conjunction with kindergarten readiness lesson plans in your daycare center .

Send a note home with the children before the unit begins with a weekly schedule. Wear red and yellow. Invite children to wear either red or yellow for the day.  Review things from circle time earlier in the week that are red and yellow. Encourage children to count how many children are wearing red and how many are wearing yellow.
