Children who are enrolled in day care are unique. Each and every child has his own personality which is why it is an important task for you to be able to give each and every one of them what they need. This includes the programs and activities which you have for the children. Part of this includes the learning techniques as well as the extracurricular activities which you have prepared for them. You should be aware that there are so many things which children can learn from the activities in your day care this is why you need to make sure that you offer a varied selection of these activities.

Academic knowledge is seen as an important part of a child’s development. Often times, most parents get this idea wrong. Learning how to read, write and count are not the only things which children should know. At this point in their lives, children learn best in a fun and enjoyable atmosphere. They can remember do much things especially when they are having fun. One way of teaching children while making sure that they are having so much fun is through art. This does not stress their brains so much when they learn. This is why it is highly recommended that each and every day care have an art class set for the children.

One way in which children express their individuality is through their creativity. If you notice, children as young as three have been using their creativity to show their identities. As a result of this, they have their own preferences when it comes to art activities that they like. As a day care center director or owner, you need to make sure that children are free to choose which art activities they would prefer doing. It is highly important that you allow the children to have a wide selection of the things which they can do. This is why you should not just limit the activities which they can do.

The first thing you have to do is to set up a “creativity area” for the children in your day care. It is important that children are able to recognize that art is as equally important as the other day care activities you have. Have tables, chairs a couple of art materials for the children. Make this area look as fun as possible so that children will get the ambiance of fun as they stay in here. There are a couple of craft stores and even book stores which offer to sell a lot of activities suited for the children. Make sure to read and carefully select the activities which you are picking out for them.

The basic art materials which you should readily buy are papers, pencils, colored pencils, crayons, markers, coloring books and water color. These are the things which children first learn how to use. By having these things, the children will have a head start when it comes to art activities. They will be able to draw and color which they will surely enjoy.

Besides from the basic things, you might want to add a little activities which they can engage in. There are so many do-it-your own activities and kits which you can teach the children every time you do art works. You can have fun with beads, yarn, chalk, glitter, scrap cloth and everything else. Some activities which may interest the children include sculpting from clay, making paper dolls, pinwheels and even cards. These things do not have to b e expensive, there are so many cheap art materials which you can buy, all you have to do is to look for suppliers. You will have fun in class without having to spend so much on these.

Always be ready when things get a little messy. Some activities involving water, glue, glitters na cutting paper can really be messy. You need to make sure that you keep the area as clean as possible after. You may even have a cleaning time after you so your art works with your child. This will not only teach them how to be creative but also teach them that their trash is their responsibility. They should throw their trash in the proper places afterwards.

A way that will promote creativity on the part of the child is by having an awarding after you do your artwork. Have your class vote for the top 5 best artworks for that activity and have a prize ready for the children who are chosen. This is why you need to make the activities as diverse as possible so that each children will be chosen as one of the best. This will increase their confidence level. They will have an idea on which activities they are good at. As early as now, they will be able to distinguish which activities they like and do not like as well as where their strengths and weaknesses.

Have their artworks posted or brought home so that they will have a collection of the things they have made in school. Children always love to be proud of the things which they are good especially of their achievements in school. This will be good for the children since they also need to feel that other people are proud of them of the things which they have done.

Through artworks, children can really maximize their development. They will learn all about their individuality, creativity and maximum potential. This is why it is important to make art as important as learning how to read and write. Children do not only learn through academics. Have them learn about these things which are very beneficial for the children. Make this a regular activity for them, you will see how this can be helpful for the holistic development of the child. As a day care center, it is important that you develop each and every aspect of a child’s development. So make sure that you set time for art, and you will truly maximize the potential of the children in your day care.

Many working mothers ask what they are supposed to do with their children when they are away for work. With a lot of different answers to this question, how are you going to decide whether to use child care centers, nannies, or just stay with the children around your house?

You know your options, but how would you know the best option for your kid? Mothers often suffer from this kind of emotional struggles. On one hand, you want to have your own personal growth through setting up a business while on the other hand, you also want to be at home for your kids. But if you decide to just work from your home, do you accomplish anything with the kids always running around and always trying to get your attention? This dilemma can drain working and entrepreneurial mothers physically and emotionally. So how should mothers know which option is best for the family?

Whether you choose to have the children under the supervision of babysitters, day cares, nannies, you yourself or your husband, each option has its own advantages and disadvantages. Also, your decision can change every time you move or have another child. Furthermore, each child has different needs which you need to cater to. One child is best taken care of in a day care while another is best supervised by a nanny.

Your house’s location is also one important consideration in choosing the care that your child should receive. If you are living in a town near colleges where students want to baby sit, then baby sitters are always available to take care of your child. But if you want a service where you can drop- in your children in times when you need to attend a business meeting or you’re just not available for the whole day, you can just choose a family child care.

Generally, the answer to our question really depends on which child care centers may be near your place. It also depends on being able to find a perfect nanny for your children. The nature of one’s personality and business also matters too. Some mothers can manage to work while the kids play around the area while others just can’t stand such situation. It also is a good option to have a mixture of different kinds of child care.

At the end of the day, flexibility is required from you and from the care providers which you will hire. You need to have alternative plans or care providers in case your kid gets sick or you need to attend a meeting outside your regular care provider’s hours. If your nanny requests for days off, give yourself different options. What matters really is that you are very comfortable with the decision that you made. Your business won’t end up successful anyway if you make a wrong decision about your child. If everyone ends up happy with the decision, then that certainly is the right one for the family.

Taking care of a child is a very meticulous task that needs care. Since children are more sensitive and prone to infection than adults, you must make sure that your child has all the things needed to be healthy and safe even in the daycare center.

Immunization for your child
Immunization is very important for children because it adds to the protection of your children against certain diseases. The role of immunization is to prevent such diseases that are harmful and can cause serious problems not only to children but to adults as well. There laws in a number of states that requires immunization records of a child before being admitted into a daycare center. This rule helps in protecting the children, staff and families as well. According to the recommendation of the United States’ Center for Disease Control, shots for immunization shall be given to babies as soon as they are born, when they reach two months, after their first birthday, at four years old, eleven and fourteen years of age. Included in the required immunization is D-P-T for diphtheria, anti-tetanus and anti-pertussis, Hepatitis B, mumps, measles, rubella, polio, and Hib for a type B influenza. Most of the vaccines are required before entering a public school. But there are some medical conditions or religious tradition that may prohibit the immunization of the child. When this happens, a physician or religious authority shall have the require documents that allow the immunization of the child. If you have other questions and want to know more about immunizations, you should contact your local center of health or human services.

Keep it clean and disinfected
Whenever you are at home or in a childcare facility, you must always look after the cleanliness. Before choosing a child care center for your children, observe the cleanliness of the area such as the floors, table tops, bathrooms, kitchen and the like. Make sure that the floor where your children are staying or strolling are swept, mopped and vacuumed. Make sure also that the corners in the room are cleaned. Since the kitchen and the bathroom are the places where most infection may occur, you have to make sure that they are kept clean and disinfected at all times. The surfaces can be sanitized using a tablespoon of bleach in a quarter of water. Check for soap, tissue, personal towel and other sanitary stuff in the bathroom. The kitchen must also be clean all the time because this is where their food will be prepared. Ask for the proper hygiene program of the daycare so that you will know how strict they are when it comes to maintaining cleanliness.

Changing Diapers for your Baby
Another important detail that you must take note is the proper method of changing diapers. You must inquire about the method that your daycare is using so that if your child have allergies and rashes due to certain products then you can tell the center. You have to make sure that the daycare has all the supplies that they will need such as diapers, wiping cloths, lotions and other medications needed by the baby. There should also be a flat, clean and sanitized surface where the child will lay. The tables should be sanitized by spraying with a commercial cleaner and wiping with a solution of bleach and water. There should also be a pad or towel so that the baby will still be comfortable. The surfaces must be sanitized and washed with alcohol or other sanitizing solution after every use. The caregivers must be very cautious when changing the diapers. They can also use a strap in order to secure the baby while they are changing the diaper in order to prevent the baby from falling off. The waste diapers must also be properly disposed. It is in the law that all caregivers or staff must wash their hands after changing the diapers of the baby. If the daycare is not following the required method, you can question your childcare provider.

In case of Illness
It is the responsibility of the daycare to assure the parents that there place is healthy for the children. This includes making sure that the children do not acquire any kind of disease while in the daycare center. This means that in case a child has a certain disease, it is required of the child care center to isolate the child as soon as the disease is discovered. It is a way to make sure that no other children will catch or have the same disease. Aside from that it also protects not only the children but as well as the staff. According to certain state laws, a daycare center or facility is not allowed to accommodate and entertain a child who has a temperature of over 100 degrees. Children who also have symptoms of communicable diseases such as chickenpox or measles are also not allowed unless the facility has a sick-care license. The children who are sick are isolated until their parents or guardians fetch them from the center. But since sickness usually occurs, there are now current guidelines for operating child care facilities that are strictly for ill or sick children. It is a universal standard procedure for all child care facilities to isolate ill or diseased children from other children when in the custom of a daycare center.

First aid and kits must be available
The daycare facilities must always have first aid kits available and handy in case any emergency occur. It must be located in places that all staff knows. It should also be easy to obtain to save time in case an urgent emergency occurs. It is advisable that every room must have its own first aid kit. But some states allow family daycare home to have at least one kit. According to the National Resource Center for Health and Safety in Child Care each daycare must have two first aid kits. First aid kits must also be brought to field trips or out of the center activities. Besides the kit, it is of utmost importance that the staffs have enough training about basic first aid. The numbers for emergency such as hospitals, poison control, police and fire fighters must also be available when needed.

Parents must know what their daycare providers are thinking because more often than not, they are not telling what is in their mind. If you ask why, it is because they just do not want to hurt any feelings and of course they do not want to lose their business. Here are five things parents should know about daycare. Or shall I say at least five things every daycare provider should be telling the parents.

1.	Daycare service is a business and not baby sitting – I hate to say it, but some people call me a babysitter and I get angry with that. I am thinking, since when a baby sitter makes $90, 000 per year and I also did not know that baby sitters paid tax like I do.

2.	Daycare providers charge late fees – Late fees could be imposed on various reasons such as late payment, not picking up the child on time, and others. Everyone’s time is important and should be respected, and if not a late fee should be imposed.

3.	Providers are not housekeepers – Remember, it is not easy to clean up after someone else’s mess so this goes again with the respect issue.

4.	Boundaries and Rules for Parents – This is very important and this is always one of the complaints I hear from providers. From the very beginning the provider needs to establish a clear and definite boundary and if these rules are broken then there should be a consequence. If a provider does not maintain a rule enforcement or policy handbook, the parents will not know what the boundaries and guidelines are. With this, parents get frustrated and sometimes it implies that they do not respect the provider.

5.	Scrapes and Scratches will happen – Children who leave daycare looking clean just like when they arrived makes you think that they have not done anything all day! Remember that outside play, sandboxes, dirt, spaghetti, all involve a child’s curiosity to touch and explore. Along with this comes mess, so do not expect a child to be clean at the end of the day but they should not be terribly dirty either.

This article is meant to help all providers and parents as well so feel free to print and give to the parents you know. It is the goal of everyone to help parents to have a wonderful relationship with the daycare service provider they hired.

This editorial is mainly suitable for parents who are looking for childcare and daycare proprietors who are constructing strategies on what their daycare center policy should be.

The major objective of a parent manual in the daycare setting is to set up rules and limits for the parent and daycare giver. Without limits and rules many subjects erupt which could have been shunned in the first place. It is tremendously important for you the parent to appreciate what your provider anticipates. As well as the provider, it is significant for you to lie along the ground work so that there will be no bewilderment lies between you and the parent.

Below is a directive that you may desire to follow concerning rules and standards recognized for your daycare center.

A parent manual about daycare centers ought to have the subsequent information:

1. Sick strategy: What are the guiding principles that the center will employ when a child turns out to be ill? When will the parent be called, how elevated does the hotness need to be for a parent to be asked to arrive and pick-up the kid? What if the child has an mysterious rash or loose bowel movements? Falls and strikes his/her head? What is the rule for re-entering childcare after being dwelling with sickness? What infectious diseases are not authorized in your center?

2. Pick-Up Child Policy: Issues ought to be addressed on who is fetching the kid, and what if somebody else shows up to pick up that kid and you don’t know about it. Are both parents as one or divorced and what is the agreement with custody. If there is a circumstances that a parent is not authorized to pick up a kid it would be shrewd to have authorized documents on sleeve stating the preparation by court. If a kid is walking from school or being picked up by your center there should be paper work on file stating these arrangements.

3. Tuition: A contract stating cost and payment should be packed out by both the parents and the daycare center. There ought to be a clear understanding of how several days the kid will go to and what the charge will be. There ought to also be an understanding of what charges there will be when a kid is not attending childcare.

4. Vacations and Time Off: Will the daycare supplier be taking off for a holiday and will the parents still require paying for childcare? What about urgent situation closings, what are the rules regarding this? What holiday’s will the center be stopped up and are they waged holiday’s or not.

5. Punishment and disorderly behavior: What are the regulations of the daycare center concerning punishment? What ages as well as what conducts does the center try to correct behavior? What is the daycare centers basis for cessation? What are the guiding principles established when talking to parents about troubles?

These are the basics of a day care parent manual. Remember that all concerns should be addressed in this manual; it is there to help the parent and the daycare center and particularly to protect the security of the kid.

Truth is, deducting some portion of your home as business expenditure is an extremely difficult process to do since this is normally being challenged by the IRS. Among the aspects being determined by the IRS in order to assess that a certain house can be employed as a business expense is the fact that a certain room within the house is “entirely and solely” employed for the business purpose only. This is something that is very difficult for every homeowner to establish.

But you should not fret a lot since the IRS gave an exception to this annoying rule which lead home day care providers to be able to look for means which will give them the ability to easily deduct a part of the house as a home office despite the fact that the room is not exclusively for day care purposes only. For instance, a room can be employed as a living room during night time and it can also be employed as a playroom by day. In case the day care is operated regularly then this room can now be regarded as a business/personal environment.

If you are wondering how exactly you will be able to calculate the amount of home expenses that will be deducted as a business expense then this is through the time/space percentage wherein time is multiplied by the area of the house which is employed for the operation of the business. You could include the area which is used as a place to keep children’s toys or wash your clothes in order to deduct the portion used in your day care business.

Furthermore, taxes and mortgage interest are deductible if only you are able to effectively itemize your deductions. Some of the other expenses that would give you the ability to lessen your tax would comprise of utilities, insurance premiums, condo fees, and business telephone lines.

There are other questions that you should bring up when talking to your tax advisor so you would be guided properly in terms of tax exemptions issues. Be sensitive about every aspect of your business so you would be guided well. As much as possible, be organized with every aspect of your business. Keep receipt at the right place so you could show them right ahead when the time comes when your accountant is in need of them.

Moreover, you should ensure the credibility of your accountant. Go for those who possess a good experience and background when it comes to business exemptions rather than an eager novice, because the former will give you more chance to obtain tax deductions. You can also ask around from your fellow home day care owners so you would understand their claims and for you to be able to assess how your business is working. Also, it would help a lot if you can have the necessary information about tax deduction by your own. Attend seminars and lectures about the subject for better understanding.
