When you finally decided to put your child in a day care center, the next step is to choose what day care center it would be. With this matter, there are a lot of factors to consider in evaluating your options. There are a lot of things you should inquire the day care center you are considering.

1.	Ensure that their operating hours coincide with your working hours. Know if they allow late pick-ups or if they charge extra amount for such delays.

2.	Inquire about who are just allowed to pick up the child and what identifications do they require. This will make sure that they will not entrust your child to just anyone.

3.	Also know if they operate during holidays and if ever how much they charge for such days.

4.	Evaluate the teachers available in the center. Are they bubbly and fun to be with? Do they communicate with children well? If ever a teacher will be on leave or suddenly can’t go to work will they have a substitute teacher?

5.	Also let them discuss to you about their policy on discipline. Ask about what they do about the child’s misbehavior and if they advise the parents when such things happen.

6.	They must also have ready medicines in the center, just in case a child might need them. But inquire about prescription medicines and if they would need any authorization before they can give them to your child.

7.	Inspect the day care center and if they have the necessary facilities such as fire extinguisher, fire exits, fire alarms, smoke detectors and other amenities. Also ensure that the equipments and the place itself are safe for children. Make sure that the harmful chemicals such as cleaning substances are out of reach of children. Also the outdoor play area must be fenced. Children must stay within the premises and in watch of the caregivers at all times.

8.	Will they have a service for fetching the kids? If ever, what type of vehicle will they be using?

9.	They must have a plan and schedule of activities. Are there any out of the center activities such as field trips? If ever there are, are additional costs to pay for?

10.	Also observe the children enrolled in the center if they are having fun. Are they well taken cared of?

11.	They also must be appreciative of the children’s work. This makes the kids prod of themselves and help build self-confidence. Do they have a corner for displaying the kids’ artwork?

12.	Do they have nap time for the children? What do they do to those who would not want to sleep? And where do they let the children sleep?

Corporate Daycare

Companies are now engaging into putting up an on-site day care centers for their customers. This is already being done in places like Britain. In a supermarket in Britain, they have a day care center where parents can leave their kids while shopping. They have been practicing this for years and they realized that customers enjoy shopping more without distractions. They will then spend more time in shopping and the market will consequently profit more.

Make a Parade Float
Why not try joining in a local parade during special occasions. Have a float for your day care center. Decorate the float with artworks made by the kids. You can also have a banner designed by the kids together with the teachers. The kids can even have their handprints on it.

Volunteer in Community Works
It’s always nice to give back to the community which has helped you a lot. And engaging in volunteer works is a way of doing it. Though you have a full-time job and a busy life, you may devote some time in helping out others. You can bake home made goodies and have them dropped off together with your child to the day acre center. Also, for the centers operating from public funds, you can give donations in terms of goods and amenities such as good cleaning products. Cooperate with other parents and discuss about how you can help. Even just spending a little of your time may mean so much to those that you may be helping. So if you can spare just some of your hours, do so. And do it in good cause.

Having a childcare business doesn’t only involve having a good relationship with the children in your care. You also have to be in good terms especially with the parents of the children under your care. This is why talking to the parents of the child is very necessary in order for you to know the simple and important details regarding the child. Speaking to the parents of the child in person is greatly suggested although you can also talk to them via the telephone or email.

Here are some points for you to remember in order for you to gain the trust of the parents of the child.

1.	Be honest with the parents all the time. Before everything else, you should let them understand how your childcare business operates. Tell them your vision, the special things that you do in your daycare, the expenses that the parents will incur, your principles and beliefs as the caretaker and as a person. Never give promises to the parents that you cannot or is very hard to fulfill. This will ruin the reputation of your daycare center so always be true and sincere in dealing with the parents.

2.	Always be prepared for the questions that the parents might ask you. You should not be intimidated by the queries of the parents because they only want the best for their child. The parents would also want to see whether or not you are knowledgeable about your business and the issues concerning the children in your care.

3.	It is also very essential that you get to know the visions of the parents about their child. You must be very well aware of his interests, dislikes and medical concerns if there are any. You have a lot of children under your care but then, they are different. So it is very important for you to take note and remember the instructions or concerns of the parents.

4.	If the parents will go to your daycare center for a house visit, let them bring their child so that you can meet him. It is very essential for the parents to know the atmosphere of the daycare center where they’re going to enroll their child. Show them the different areas of the center including the play place, activity area, eating area, restrooms and others. Always remember to be as hospitable and welcoming as possible.

5.	Conduct a trial period in order for you to know whether you and the child can get along well. This will also help the parents determine whether or not their child will have an enjoyable time basing on the child’s relationship with you as his caregiver. This will also help you know the child better so if the child is formally enrolled, you will not be hard up and you will know how to connect with the child.

These are just some reminders for you to consider when dealing with the parents of the child to be enrolled in your daycare center. These tips will help you get along well with them and therefore will help you succeed in your daycare business.

It is always scary and challenging both for parents and providers to look at the first day in daycare. It is always a big day for everyone concerned – the mom, child and the care provider. First times and first days are always both exciting and terrifying experiences so it is always best to be prepared for the big day and make the transition a smooth one.

Moms should start preparing the child in advance that it’s going to be a great adventure in day care and that they will have lot of new friends and fun games. These should however be kept low key and not overdone as it could overwhelm the child.

Day care providers can, on the other hand, provide moms with a list of first names of the children in day care as well as the carers and suggest having role playing with dolls so that everything will be more familiar with the child on her first day.

Moms should also start fostering independence in the child weeks before by visiting friends, washing their own hands. At the same time, providers should encourage mom and her child to visit the center a few times before finally starting to allow the child to absorb the environment.

Snacks, change of clothes, comfort toys should be packed by moms for the day and make sure that everything is labelled. It is also advisable to have everything paid and for the forms to be completed before the big day so that these will no longer distract you. Moms should also have plenty of time to get ready in the morning of the first day and prepare a good breakfast with some chat about the great adventure ahead.

When a new child is starting at a center, provider should take on an extra hand to focus on distracting and comforting the new child. It is advisable to have the new child start when everyone else has settled into their morning activities as starting off first thing in the morning may upset the child.

Moms should also allow the child to help in packing his back and carrying it. Mom should walk into the center while holding the hand of the child – not carrying him. Providers should encourage this to avoid having the “peeling child off the parent” scene.

Daycares should also have a settling period where child can stay for gradually longer periods. Moms can stay around but involvement should be discouraged. Moms should take a backseat and just observe other than interact with the child activity. During the settling period, the child should have a one on one support. The child may just want to sit and observe a while before eventually joining group activities, he should be allowed to go at his own pace. When the mom leaves, providers should distract the child or usher him off to some exciting activity.

On the first day, the mom can settle in by staying in the room with the child and letting him do his own thing and simply remaining in sight. Test your child’s reactions by stepping out of the room for a while saying that you need to make a call or just in the hall. Let the staff distract your child for a while and watch his reaction from a distance. When you need to go to the car or get some coffee, give your child a quick kiss and say mommy will see you later. If the child cries out, don’t look back as your child will soon stop crying and will be distracted with play and activities.

Parents must know what their daycare providers are thinking because more often than not, they are not telling what is in their mind. If you ask why, it is because they just do not want to hurt any feelings and of course they do not want to lose their business. Here are five things parents should know about daycare. Or shall I say at least five things every daycare provider should be telling the parents.

1.	Daycare service is a business and not baby sitting – I hate to say it, but some people call me a babysitter and I get angry with that. I am thinking, since when a baby sitter makes $90, 000 per year and I also did not know that baby sitters paid tax like I do.

2.	Daycare providers charge late fees – Late fees could be imposed on various reasons such as late payment, not picking up the child on time, and others. Everyone’s time is important and should be respected, and if not a late fee should be imposed.

3.	Providers are not housekeepers – Remember, it is not easy to clean up after someone else’s mess so this goes again with the respect issue.

4.	Boundaries and Rules for Parents – This is very important and this is always one of the complaints I hear from providers. From the very beginning the provider needs to establish a clear and definite boundary and if these rules are broken then there should be a consequence. If a provider does not maintain a rule enforcement or policy handbook, the parents will not know what the boundaries and guidelines are. With this, parents get frustrated and sometimes it implies that they do not respect the provider.

5.	Scrapes and Scratches will happen – Children who leave daycare looking clean just like when they arrived makes you think that they have not done anything all day! Remember that outside play, sandboxes, dirt, spaghetti, all involve a child’s curiosity to touch and explore. Along with this comes mess, so do not expect a child to be clean at the end of the day but they should not be terribly dirty either.

This article is meant to help all providers and parents as well so feel free to print and give to the parents you know. It is the goal of everyone to help parents to have a wonderful relationship with the daycare service provider they hired.

Babies can bring about joy to any family. Taking care of a baby or a child is one the best experiences one can have in his lifetime. When you have a baby at home you will slowly realize the changes that you can undergo just for their sake. Your lifestyle and habits changes when you have a baby.

For working parents, chances are, it becomes ever more difficult to care for their baby and manage their time at work altogether. This becomes an issue because as we all know babies and children need special care and attention. This is where daycare services come into the picture.

Even if you happen to be a full time employee, this does not mean that you should greatly depend on daycare centers. Of course you would still need to try your hardest to work around your schedule and spend quality time with your child. Most especially on weekends, it would be best to do some bonding with your baby.

Going back to daycare centers, some parents opt to hiring the services of a child care provider who can attend to their child while they are at work. A child care provider can provide care for you child at the comfort of your own home so there’s no need for you to enrol him to a daycare cetner. Unlike in any such establishment under a childcare worker your baby will get absolute attention round the clock. Many parents often feel that their kids aren’t receiving quite as much personal attention as they should in day care centers. This will never be the case with a caregiver. As long as the childcare worker you choose is qualified (i.e. licensed) and experienced he or she will take full care of your child in your absence right at your home.

Entrusting your child to a trusted neighbour or a very close relative is of course another very good option for you. Remember, a close family member, relative or a close friend should be your only options. Don’t entrust your child with just about anyone in your neighbourhood or with total strangers. The concerned party should preferably have had some prior experience with kids or be caring for their own newborn as well. Leave your kid with all possible requirements such as diapers, feeding bottles, milk, clothes, powder etc. when handing them over to someone. Also, do pick them up at the right time, leaving your kid with someone else beyond a stipulated hour may prove bothersome for the people concerned.

If neither of these options works for you however you will have to turn to the tried and tested method of putting your baby in a day care center. When selecting a day care center for your child it is important to keep a few pointers in mind. Firstly, ensure that the particular day care center you choose has at least one certified trained person to oversee all proceedings. Secondly, make sure it fits in comfortably enough with your monthly expenditure, since most of them are extremely expensive. In fact they are so expensive that many parents wonder if it is cost effective for them both to continue working.

Single Parents hire Child Care Services for their Children
Truth be told, parenting can be a very daunting task most especially if you happen to be parenting alone and without the help of your husband. If you happen to be a single parent, chances are you have to take on the responsibility of parenting all by yourself. There are days when the task can be manageable however there will surely be those days wherein you will find that things don’t necessarily go your way. Caring for a baby is backbreaking work, thus all single parents look for possible help. Thankfully, a large umber of childcare facilities has become available for single parents today. But, on the flipside, choosing the right childcare facility out of the hordes available is a job in itself.

Before hiring childcare services, it would be best for you to check out all the options that you have first and determine which one will work best for you. You can choose from one-to-one caregivers to childcare centers and a thousand other options.

There are some single parents out there who would rather hire for the services of child care givers at home. This is often a good arrangement since it does not include the entire picking up and dropping off scenario. It also ensures that your schedule, no matter how erratic it is, does not come in the way of your child’s well being. Single parents often find the strict timings at most day care centers very inconvenient. It becomes difficult them to manage dropping off or picking up their baby’s at a specific time. A childcare provider who comes home therefore is a far better option for them. Also, the fact that your child will be within the comfort of your own home and not in some godforsaken day care center is also a strangely comforting thought.

However, you shouldn’t be solely dependent on your childcare provider to the point of helplessly wanting her to solve your problems and deal with all your issues. Trust is one of the most crucial things when it comes to daycare centers. Its not easy or advisable for any parent to entrust their child with an individual they have never seen before. Also, it is not particularly cheap. So in case you are considering finding a caregiver for your child try and look for someone you know. In case that’s not possible at least try and get to know your nanny a little better before employing him/her. See how he/she deals with the child. Ask for recommendations and speak to former employers. Also, do remember to find out where he/she lives. If everything works out and the financial end is taken care of a childcare provider might solve all your baby-related problems.

Children who have working parents usually need special attention in times when parents won’t be able to attend to them. While there are childcare programs available now like daycare centers, guidance from parents are still most important.

If you are a parent and you want your child to grow a beautiful person, your presence during those formative years is very crucial. For teenagers, the danger of going astray has a high risk. These risks particularly happen during periods of after-school. You might be wondering or feeling uncomfortable what your teenager is doing at that time of the day. Finding a solution about keeping your child safe thus worth every effort you exert. There are a number of things that you should know to keep your teen safe after-school. Having such information will make you comfortable the next time you could not attend to your son or daughter.

Lack of supervision may lead your teen to risks
Studies show that 37 percent of teenagers fall off course after-school when left unsupervised by parents. These teens may be engaged to drug addiction, premarital sex, and misdemeanours and these happen between the hours 3 pm and 6 pm during school days. Low grades, social incompetence, and accidents are also attributed to the lack of supervision of parents to their teens after school. Aside from giving your teen a healthy environment by your consistent supervision, keeping your teen safe shows to be the principal reason to make sure your teenagers are not left unattended or guided.

Being said the disadvantages of teenagers unsupervised by adults, there is still a greater number of teens left unsupervised than those attending or enrolled in a care program which is a measly 6 percent. What could be the reasons to this? Are parents not aware that they can provide a safety net for their teens after-school hours by enrolling tehm in childcare programs? Has teens outgrown these kinds of programs and think that it is not appropriate for them? Why do parents need to search an after-school childcare program for their teens? What could be the parents’ benefits from them and what kind of program could be hired that your teens may also like?

For very busy parents whose time is almost consumed by the constraint and obligations in the workplace, it is totally demanding and exhausting to still find time to sit with the teen in accomplishing his or her homework. It is even difficult to make sure that the kids’ requirements are met. Educational systems generally focus on the intellectual progress and development and in the students’ success in academics. This may be the first of your intentions in sending your kid to school but development in other aspects of the kid’s life such as physical, emotional, and social is likewise essential. Quality programs for after-school are capable of addressing these particular needs of your kid. That is why it is imperative to wisely select which program should you send your kid to.

In some cases, parents should be thankful if their kid in middle-school has an active involvement in extra-curricular activities such as school plays, sports, organizations, among other school activities that promote the development of students’ social and mental acumen. In these cases, your kid will be busy after-school because of scheduled rehearsals and group meetings. You can be sure that your kid stays with his or her group and risks can be avoided. For kids who won’t be able to join school extra-curriculars and left nothing to do after school, a quality programs can also help develop their personalities. It will truly be a lot easier for the parents to manage their schedule and their kids’ if they hire someone else to take care of the job that they could no longer accommodate because of work. In getting only the quality after-school program for your kids, managing the family doesn’t have to be complicated.

Benefits of out-of-school-programs
Quality programs for kids who are out of school offers activities for the kids that complement those offered in schools and done inside the homes. These activities also promote development in the kid’s personality whether physical, intellectual, or social. Such activities encourage the kids to engage in decision-making, giving solutions to problems, and in having self confidence and esteem. These programs also have health education and other supervised activities that have the primary objective of training the young teens about positive values pertinent to live a happy and healthy life when they mature. Likewise, quality after-school programs provide support to the enrolees in accomplishing their homework—a very helpful feature to busy parents.

Spending time with other kids in the programs who eventually become their friend, make kids live a healthier social life and a bigger social circle were support and friendship can be sought. Through activities presented in the program, young teens also gain a positive learning experience and knowledge is widened because they get to interact with many other kids.

After-school programs are offered in youth organizations such as YMCAs, Boys and Girls Scouts, religious groups, Junior Achievement, parent cooperatives, private schools, and in-home programs run by families.

Helpful and creative ideas for a better program
In most childcare centers, the parents are encouraged to get involved in the activities once in a while no matter how busy they are. The parents participation in the program injects a sense of belonging and comfort for the kids knowing that their parents care and are trying to partake even if they have a tight schedule.

Some programs involve parents by giving them schedule to attend per week. Each family is requested at a certain number of times a week to attend to the kids’ simple needs like in driving for them, doing errands, and support for homework. Making sure there is a parent available in the kids’ endeavours is one creative approach that after-school programs do.

Enlisting parents to take responsibility every once in a while is a great approach to get them involved in the program and the kids to like what they are doing without feeling they are just left unreasonably or neglected for other people’s care.

By having the accurate and relevant information on how after-school programs work and how you and your teen will be benefited, you can be sure that you made just the right and practical solution in averting your kid from danger.

It’s the new year and you can definitely say that it’s a bad way of welcoming the year because of the staggering economy. This is a great concern for every individual all over the world but it’s even of a bigger concern for single parents who do not have a partner in life to share their expenses with. When daycare expenses takes a toll on your income, it becomes especially important for single parents out there to think of creative ways on how you to find various solutions to fit it in their budget. Even if budget remains to be a continuing concern, it is still very much important for single parents to consider the quality of services their children can be provided with by a particular daycare center.

Here are some ideas that can help you budget and possibly cut down on your expenses for a daycare service:

1. If possible, have a relative watch your children and this could provide you with the assurance that your child is in good hands since blood is definitely much thicker than water. Also, this does not necessarily cost you anything. A relative will help for FREE for sure.

2. Offer help to other single parents when it comes to caring for their child. This way, when you are in need, chances are, the same parent could also offer you with the same type of help.

3. Start a neighborhood block, or apartment coop with other parents that are in need of finding quality and cheap daycare solutions. This is a great way of trading time that requires you to work in the Coop on assigned days, nights or weekends as part of your payment to use the services. Often your coop would charge a nominal fee for costs to keep the coop running and provide meals, books, and supplies.

4. Working part-time or job sharing can be found in some positions today. For example, Microsoft often had over the years receptionist job sharing positions where one would work mornings and the other would work afternoons. This way a full shift is covered but with two people job sharing the duties. Ask your employer if this is a possibility. You don’t know until you ask.

5. As you know, the daycare facilities run the ladder in prices and services they offer. Often your State will have subsidized programs, as well as larger employers will have subsidized daycare facilities where they pay a portion of your costs. A very nice perk. Research is required to find the facilities who offer well rounded programs depending on your income.

6. In home Nannies are also a possibility but affording in-home care is often very expensive. Check into local churches who have a large population of immigrant members. You might get lucky and find a wonderful Nanny from such countries as Russia who once taught school before coming to the United States. I have been very fortunate when my children were school age to find the best Nannies through this solution.

The Effects of Daycare Centers on Children

Children could definitely maximize the countless advantages they can be provided with when they are enrolled in a daycare center. They are primarily enrolled in a place where they can be assured of quality care, safety and several other advantages.

With other children also present at the daycare, from babies to toddlers to pre-primary or even primary school children (that come in after attending school), your child at daycare learns to live in a social environment and learns new skills such as communication, interactivity play and team games besides values such as sharing, table manners, importance of obeying rules and being in a structured environment. So, when your child is ready to go to school, he or she has some sort of foundational base already about performing in a structured environment thanks to daycare training! It’s much like thinking of daycare as your child’s first school and outside community living experience that helps him or her learn to interact with other kids – like a unique and playful learning environment.

Children make friends, learn to follow rules, play turn by turn, learn good habits such as nap-time and putting away toys after finishing with them; a good childcare facility will have trained personnel and teachers to involve children in a variety of fun activities such as painting, puppetry, motor-skills expansion games and clay or sand-play besides music, dance and reading classes so not only does the child imbibe a whole new world of play-way method learning but attending a daycare also reduces the chances of separation anxiety for them when they finally have to go to school.

Thus, daycare essentially makes it easier for both the child and the parents to adapt to school life better and faster, as basic number, alphabet and speech concepts have already been picked up by most kids attending daycare regularly besides important socialization skills.

Most daycare centers also encourage a classroom-styled environment for older kids about to enter proper school so they are not intimidated by the first experience at the school and thus it is sort of a preparatory step towards formal schooling – albeit in a fun environment.

Daycare facilities also have teachers on the payroll, many of whom supervise timely homework schedules being adhered to by older, school-going kids and also guide them on various subjects, so parent’s burdens are lessened.

Thus, with a bunch of benefits – from meals, nap, games, studies and safety taken care of by quality daycare centers, parents have a great deal going for them if they pick the right one for their child; but, of course, they still need to play the Mommy-Daddy once the child gets home, right from the hug, to the ‘how did your day go’ and ‘glad to have you back,’ routine – it works to keep the children feel loved and cherished.

Doing this can definitely make your children understand that enrolling them to a daycare center can benefit them in countless different ways.

Day care providers must take advantage of every available opportunity to include parent’s ideas and listen to their input. It is always fruitful and result oriented when parents of children are included in day care activities. Day care employees also can share information that they have seen some improvements regarding the child at the day care centre and in return, parents can focus by giving out a whole lot of valuable information giving the day care providers a whole idea of what the child is like outside the day care.

The balance of ideas
The chance to bounce off ideas and techniques on what works and otherwise, focusing on the different children can be reached by this unspoken cooperation and understanding. Respecting each other, valuing each others inputs, and listening to thoughts from both parties makes each child’s stay much better experience. Day care providers can site and put weight on family values and practices while parents can learn more about the behaviour of their child or children from the day care providers. Formal and informal venues of exchanging thoughts between the day care provider and parents should be a continuous thing.

The assessment of the day care employees by the day care provider might prove beneficial in how they can obtain information from the parents regarding their child or children. This assessment will help as a guide on how they can obtain information from the parents. This assessment has to be done discreetly. Time management is of the importance in doing such assessment. Think of more venues for the employees and the parents to communicate. Think of ingenious ways for parents to gain more involvement e.g. they could participate in cooking demos for the children; they could participate in activities of the day care centre.

A complaints procedure should be set that allows parents to share their inner thoughts and complains easily and without the feeling of being judged. Day care providers should be perceived as approachable, a good listener and professional and with that said, should look at as grievances as constructive criticism and a venue to improve the quality of the providers’ day care service. The day care provider should show gratitude to parents for bringing up issues to the providers attention and focus on the problem right away. It is imperative to have a complaints program in place so the staff is authorized to focus with particular issues as management come in for the more serious incidents. Maybe having a suggestion box will allow parents to come up with suggestions and criticisms with their identities withheld.

Information venues
Involve the parents from the onset of activities by including them in an orientation and ocular visit and the settling in activity. Forming a parents committee will allow the parents have a collective voice thus allowing for more positive interaction. Installing a key worker system in the day care will allow parents have a daily point of contact focusing on their child’s welfare. Sending out information via newsletter or a bulletin board allows parents and employees to monitor the day care’s schedule. The information can be sent verbally also so that there is less chance of misunderstanding or confusion. Web sites and blog sites are the new way for parents to communicate with the day care provider. Involve the staff in a staff page with information and photos.

Involving the parents in the providers’ day care can positively provide the provider with free resources and good feedback. Parents become more helpful to the day care centre when they know that the day care centre is doing a great job. And because of this open communication system, misunderstandings are an unlikely possibility. With this in mind, day care providers have to make sure that their day care centre is warm, open and friendly. A parent with peace of mind is a peaceful parent.

The first day is always the big day!

Seeing your kid go to his daycare center for the first time can be your big source of happiness and stress. The experience is both terrifying and exciting. On the other hand, the first day is also one of the most anticipated moments of any daycare provider but aside from the excitement, there is the feeling of tension. For both the parents and the providers to deal with the process competently here are some considerations :

As a mom, it is best to prepare your kids in advance about the things that is in store for him at the daycare. Steer clear the sense of curiosity but allow him to feel excited to finally leave his cocoon so he will be able to discover the outside world away from your house. Tell him that there will be a lot of friends and games. However, keep it low since overdoing the whole thing can overwhelm your child. For the provider, it would be helpful to give moms the first name of their kids. Allow the kids to play with dolls or toy cars during the first day to break down the tension felt by students.

It is important for moms to foster independence by allowing the kid to wash their own hands and other things. As much as possible, accompany your kid to the center at least a couple of time before the classes finally starts so your kid can absorb the environment better.

Pack everything that your kid will need during his first day at school such as a pack snack, comfort toys, changing clothes, and always ensure that everything is labelled. Kids tend to be too careless at times hence it is better for you to label his items to prevent the possibility of getting lost. Ensure that all forms are completed and all payments are settled to avoid being abstracted by these tasks. Wake up earlier than the usual so you will have lots of time to prepare everything. Greet your kid with a good

breakfast and stir his sense of adventure by telling him what will happen ahead of the day.

If your kid suggests that he would like to help in packing his belongings, allow him to do so. When you arrive at the daycare center, hold his hands while you walk together through the room. Do not carry him since most kids would become afraid to let go after knowing that they have to stay on the new place without his mother.

Stay on the room during the first day; be always near his sight so he would feel comforted by your presence. If he wants to go out and be with you, allow him to do so for a few minutes but insist later on about his needs to stay inside the room. Be persistent but loving enough so your kid will feel comforted.

As a daycare provider, one should take advantage of every opportunity to involve the parents in the activities and provide input for their children. Seeing parents participate in child care provides a very positive experience to everyone especially to the children. There is much information that can be shared among parents and also provide a lot of information about their children and the best way to handle them.

Child care is mutual cooperation between the provider and the parents. As a parent you don’t just dump your kid at the daycare and let the provider worry about them while your go about your daily business. As providers you should as much as possible facilitate the participation of the parents. Allot a time where you can sit down with them and discuss their child’s performance and how their child is doing.

Parents spending time at the daycare can learn a lot about their kids too. They will see how their child is able to socialize and interact with his or her fellow children. This way the parent can see how the values that they have been imparting to the child are brought to the daycare. Communication is one of the vital factors that help in the development of the child and the dialogue with the provider and parent provides a lot of insight.

Parents must also be given the chance to assess the staff and the facilities. This feedback will allow maximization of the effectivity of the sharing process. There is also a need to talk to your staff to participate in this communication process with the parents. Your staff and the parents can learn a lot from each other. Give time for your staff to show their expertise in handling children this way the parents can learn something from them at the same time be more relaxed leaving their child knowing that they are in good hands.

In cases of negative feed back, make sure you have a way for parents to air out their grievances easily and without fear of being judged. Show them that you are a professional and you welcome positive criticism. This is also a way for you to improve your service not just to the children but also to their parents. Have a complaint procedure where certain aspects can be handled by your staff. This way you get to empower them and at the same time allow them to communicate with the parents. Just be reminded that certain more serious issues should be handled by the management. It would be helpful to have a suggestion box where parents can drop a note if they are uncomfortable telling things to you directly.

The first time you orient the parents you must be able to create an atmosphere that parental involvement is greatly needed and appreciated. You can provide suggestion to parents that they can form a group to help facilitate and provide suggestions in the care of their children. Set out all the procedures and continuous dialogues will prevent any misunderstanding in both parties.
