Halloween is one of the activities that children are anticipating to come. This is a time for them to stay late, eat as much candy and do get to be creative. Since Halloween has been one of the events that will really require your creative skills, you really need to prepare for this. This is why you do not need to exclude your day care when Halloween is around the corner. Have a Halloween celebration in your day care and turn it into one of the best days that your children will ever have.

Here are some of the things which you need to prepare for to turn it to the biggest event in your day care:

Invitations
Of course, since this is a Halloween party, you need to fix the invitations that you are going to send out to the parents and the children. There are generic Halloween invitations that are sold in the bookstores, but since this only comes once a year, it is better that you have them handmade, one by one. You can choose to make them on their own, but you can also have the children help out when making the invitations. You can have them pre-cut and let the children design the cards. Have them in ghost, pumpkin and even spider cut outs. This will already excite the children knowing that they will be having a party to go to.

Also remember to invite not only the children but the parents and the staff as well. Make this party into one whole getting-to-know party that will allow parents to meet with other parents who have children in the day care, who knows? Maybe after the party, the parents will have new friendships.

Costumes
You need to make sure that you have told everyone who wants to come to be in a costume. Yes, no one needs to be excluded from this even you! So try to pick a costume that children will love. You can suggest costumes for the kids. This is not really a hard thing to do since there are a lot of department stores which offer a range of costumes during the Halloween season, right? There are cartoon characters, heroes and even mythical creatures. This will make the children think creatively on what costume they will like. At this point, children will already have an idea on what they want. Do not waste this opportunity and award them with the Most Creative, Scariest and other awards for their costumes. This will make the children, as well as the parents feel that you truly appreciate their effort into making this one big event.

Decorations
There are a couple of designs that you may choose to use for your day care. This is now the time to think creatively. You need to resourceful in picking out the design that you want. You can have hanging skeletons, dry-ice in jack-o –lanterns, wall decors and toy spiders. There are so many ways to transform your day care into a scary realm for the Halloween. A week before the party, you need to prepare for these things already. You can ask the children to help from making the decorations up to the decoration of the day care itself. By encouraging them to cooperate with this, they will be able to feel the Halloween spirit. You can even change the lighting of your day care. Cellophane does a great job in changing your white light into other colors. Just experiment in this and you will be able to have the perfect decoration for your day care. Remember that you do not have to spend so much on your decoration, a little creativity goes a long, long way.

The Day Itself
Pick a time when it is most accessible to the children. You can even have it on Halloween itself. Have your party in the afternoon so that when the party ends, the children will be ready to go Trick or Treating in their neighbourhood. This will double the fun for the children since they are already wearing their costumes after the party.

Pick out games that the children can play in your day care. Typical parlor games are fine as long as you mix in a twist of Halloween in them. The children will find it fun to participate in all of your games. Make sure that the games are not as rough as they should be because the costumes might get destroyed after.

You can choose to have your food catered, but a little is okay. Have a little pasta and chicken if you want to. For a party like this, it is enough to have Halloween treats for the child. Make sure that you have a candy bowl where the children can get their treats. Also make one for the parents. It has been proven that parents also need to have their fun once in a while so make sure that they are also included in the party.

Loot Bags
Giveaways and loot bags should be given to your guests. This will remind them of the party plus they will have a little something to enjoy at home. There are so many ideas when it comes to this, you just need to look for them. You can have them personalized or not. Leave this to yourself and do not let the children know you have one prepared for them. Children love surprises and they will surely love this one.

It is so easy to plan a Halloween party in your day care. You just need to make the most of your time to plan and prepare for the party. If this is the first time that you are doing this, have a friend or two help you with the ideas. There is nothing that you need to worry about because as long as you have everything planned, you will be able to make this as a successful event that all of you will enjoy. Have fun!

At present, daycare centers are not only places wherein children are cared for while their parents are working during the day. Daycare centers, nowadays, are places for children participate in some activities so as to free them from boredom and make their day recreational. The activity that you plan to give to the children will depend on their age. To be successful in taking care of the children, you should be able to teach them new things and let their potentials be developed. By giving activities, the children become more active and become more comfortable in socializing with other children.

Giving enjoyable activities for the children is very simple. Purchasing expensive toys and educational materials for the children in your care to have fun is not a necessity. All you need is a simple and fun exercise. Children learn more effectively while at play particularly for children below 6 years of age. Doing this not only make the children have fun but can also entertain and give you a fun time.

There are four things to bear in mind in planning your activity for the children.

•	Get to know the children who are in your care
•	Have fun-loaded activity
•	Change and Make it new
•	Inquire

Getting to know the children
Being the one who takes care of the children, you should be able to know what their ages are. In addition, you should also know what activities do other children their age do. This will become your basis in creating an activity for them. The activity that you will give should suit their ages. You can teach the kids how to count and how to recite the alphabet. You can also let them learn how to recognize shapes and colors. If you want to let them play, organize a game wherein they can jump or clap their hands and stomp their feet. This will make them exercise their motor skills. If children with different age brackets are in your daycare center, give them an activity that suits their age.

Having a fun loaded activity
One of the fun filled activities that you can do is to make the kids draw or paint and let them make their own story out of it. Having a show and tell session is also a very good activity. Letting them do this enhances their creativity while having fun. Not only that, you will also be entertained as they tell their stories from their imagination.

Change and Make it New
List down all the activities that you plan to give to the children for about a month. Rotate the activities so that the children wouldn’t get used to the activities that you give. Determine which activities are mostly enjoyed by the children and put them aside for future use.

Inquire
Before the child attends the daycare regularly, an interview with the parents of the child and the child is done. During the interview, it is a must to ask what the child loves to do. This will help you design the activities that you will give to them. In addition to this, you also ought to ask the child’s parents what they want their child to do. Considering the parents’ views and visions for their child will make the planning of the daycare activities a lot easier.

There are two ways by which you can plan your daycare activities. You can plan them monthly or yearly. Planning the activities ahead of time will make your load a lot easier since you will not be bothered every Sunday night for the next activity the next day. Planning on a weekly basis also makes your design more flexible. You can rotate the activities the way you like it.

SIMPLE DAYCARE ACTIVITIES
Being in daycare means fun. As the caretaker of the children, you need to have lots of activities that will bring the child’s creativity and potential to the fullest while having fun. This is why the most crucial thing in the business is during the time of the planning of activities. The children who enter the daycare come in different age brackets. Therefore, it is very important for you to know their ages and give them activities based on their age and make the activities as fun as possible.

It is also important to give the children their own time to play. In this way, they will learn how to socialize with other kids by their own and they will be able to enhance their creativity. Drawing or story telling all the will make the children feel bored. Therefore, it is really necessary for them to have their own play time.

FUN WITH THEMES
Following a theme for the day or for the week will increase the fun for the children. The activities that you plan to give to them can be based on the theme that is set for the day. A theme can be anything around you or any event in the calendar. For example, you can have the Christmas Season as a theme during December or you can have nature like flowers as a theme. The activity that you can give to the children can range from painting, drawing, crafts, and many others.

ACTING
Another activity that brings out the children’s talents is by letting them act a story. You are the one who will conceptualize and begin the storyline. Afterwards, let the children continue the story and them act it out. This will really boost their creativity and confidence. In addition, you can let them make their own costumes and props.

LENDING A HAND
The children can also be involved in your daily chores. Letting them help you clean the shelves or arrange the books will make them feel important. They feel worthy and proud if they are able to do the job of an adult. Aside from helping you out, they will also have fun by doing these simple chores.

Lastly, in the event that you run out of brilliant ideas, just ask your kids what would they want to do. A day can be assigned as the Kid’s Choice day. Let the children propose different activities and compile them to make a great activity plan for the next day. This will not only make the children very interested in the activity but they will also gain self-confidence and a sense of fulfillment.

You’ve completed your planning and determined that you’ll need extra help. So how do you guarantee that you get the greatest candidate through your door?

All commerce owners need to recognize the significance of human resource (HR) planning. HR preparation is not a fancy word for large organizations to implement. Even small businesses need to guarantee that their HR is in order to function properly. Failing to administer your HR correctly could result in a lack of manpower when you need it or too many manpower when you don’t need them and therefore incurring needless cost.

So, what is HR development? Marketing has its 4Ps while HR has 6Rs. It is ensuring that you have the correct staff in the accurate numbers, doing the precise job, at the exact time and at the correct place.

There are a number of options to manage momentary shortages in manpower. Firstly, you can hire part-time workers. They are a good option especially when you have a lot of children under half-day care. You can also think about engaging temporary employment agencies. This option is more suitable for less critical positions such as teacher assistants rather than the caregiver. The next option is to have your staff work longer hours and pay them overtime for it.

For lasting manpower shortages, you’ll need a recruitment campaign to hire. You can do this whether via advertisement, referral or hire an employment agency to help you with it.

There are several factors to take into thought to ensure that you hire the right person. You need to look in depth into several factors:

- What will be the candidate’s responsibilities and tasks. Try to be as exact as possible on the job duties that is required of the applicant. This information will come in useful when drawing up the advertisement.

- Do you need the candidate to be proficient in any tools or equipment such as the computer or musical instrument?

- What’s the operational environment of the candidate? E.g. What are the working hours? Will the candidate be on shift? Where is the applicant supposed to be stationed, especially if you have more than one outlet)? How many children does the daycare centre care for? What are the age groups?

- What will be his/her working relationship with fellow colleagues. Who will the candidate be reporting to? Will there be any staff that he/she will be required to supervise?

- What are the job requirements?

- What are the qualities that the candidate should possess? Do you want the candidate to be able to handle children and be patient with children?

- Do you need the candidate to possess prior experience in childcare?

- What are the credentials you would like them to possess? Do they need to possess a Diploma or Certificate in Early Childhood? Do you need the applicant to have first aid training?

Doing the job right
Finally, you need to sort out what you’ll need to do to draw candidates of the above qualities to apply for the situation and execute their job well.

- You need to decide what are the benefits you will be offering to the candidate; e.g. annual leave, insurance, subsidy (if they put their child at your daycare centre), etc.

In this piece we’re going to talk about child care amenities that go a little bit above and further than the least level of care.

There is an old saying that says, “Man does not live on bread alone.” That saying is also factual for children. While it’s good to be able to find a daycare center that will simply take care of your child and feed him, it’s pleasant to know that there are some centers out there, the better funded ones that give quite a few nice special activities. Naturally, for a center like this, the parent is going to have to pay a payment. This presents kind of a bizarre problem since most parents who send off their children to daycare do so for the reason that they either both have to work or are single parents and have no option in the subject. These people certainly don’t have the premium funds for such premium services.

But then there are those who are more well off and use daycare only during certain times of the year when they want to go on vacation to get away from it all. For these people their main fear is that their child is happy while they are away. Just being fed and watched isn’t going to do it for these kids or their parents. Fortunately, there are daycare centers with quite a few premium services to make the child’s stay there more than enjoyable.

One of the most admired things that these daycare centers do that doesn’t actually cost a whole lot of cash is to schedule field trips. These can also be to zoos, parks or even just playgrounds. Apart from of the trip, much planning is needed.

For starters, supervising a large number of children under open conditions like these requires extra workers and/or volunteers. This costs money as wages are the biggest part of a daycare center’s budget. Typically for a trip of this nature the daycare center will simply ballpark how much the trip is going to cost them and then pass on the bill to the various families who have children there. These people are more than happy to pay it in order to make sure their child has a superior time.

The next thing the center has to do in the case of these field trips is make sure that each child has lunch. Usually they will have a low cost food preparation service take care of this. The meals won’t be much, usually just a sandwich, dessert and beverage, but it will be sufficient to get the child through the day. A small snack is then usually provided later on such as graham crackers and milk. This is always a kids’ favourite.

Aside from field trips, centers will also have in house events. These will usually engage guests like magicians, singers or other types of performers. The day is planned out so that the child is adequately entertained through a good part of it, with time allocated for food and naps.

There are of course many other types of activities that many centers provide. Sure, the parents usually end up paying for them but in the long run they are more than worth it considering it’s for their child. And nothing is more significant than their child.

Fall Activities For the Preschool Classroom & Preschool Children

Schoolers are back to school and fall is here for most of us. What can we do as Parents, Early Childhood Educators and Home Care Providers?

Get the children in to a “school” like custom. This will help our children learn habit, and help to better equip them when they start grade school.

If you work at a day care odds are the center has a custom to work for them including scheduling for breaks, lunch breaks, etc. If you are at home or looking for a change to the daily schedule, here is a model idea.

Sample Schedule:

Morning
6:30-8:30 Parent drop off, free play, clean up (7:15-*bathroom routine)
8:30-9:00 Snack, clean-up, books and puzzles
9:00-10:00 Outside free play, and games
10:00-10:15 *Bathroom Routine
10:15-11:15 Circle time, Art, Sensory, Dramatic Play, Science, Blocks, etc, Clean up
11:15-11:30 Wash-up/*bathroom and sit for lunch
11:30-12:15 Lunch time, wash-up

Afternoon
12:15-2:15 Nap time and/or quiet time activities
2:15-3:30 Wake-up, *bathroom routine, clean up quiet activities, snack
3:30-4:30 Outside free play
4:30-5:30 free play, parent pick up

This timetable can be changed to what seems easiest for you and your group that is in your setting, but the main point here is that when these routines and schedules are followed closely everyday, children become familiar with routines and organization and will thus have an easier time when incoming grade school.

Even if you are a parent at home with only your own children, setting up your day is a great thing to do with your children as it will profit them in the same way.

Fun Food Tasting Ideas:
With fall approaching, some wonderful foods to talk about and taste are:

Apples (cut up and served with different dips with snack)

Apple Cider (Let the children experience it warm and cold)

Squash (can try at lunch)

Maple Syrup (take a class trip to see how it’s made, can have waffles and syrup for a snack, or try maple syrup cookies for a treat)

Creamy Soups (great lunch idea with side of garlic bread or sandwiches)

Sweet Potatoes (can try at lunch)

Cranberries (can try in cookies or plain)

Chili (great warm lunch idea with homemade biscuits)

Biscuits (can be made as a cooking activity and served with lunch)

Pumpkin/seeds (as a circle activity, cut top off and seed pumpkin, wash and roast seeds to show children the process, allow children to handle pulp as a unique sensory experience)

All these food and snack ideas are not only healthy to eat, they can also serve as a means to educate the children on the various types of foods they can enjoy.

If you love kids and have done some babysitting before you may want to open your own daycare business. Having your own daycare can be both rewarding and at the same time profitable. There are just a few things you will want to know before you get started.

It takes more than just watching the children and reading some books to handle a daycare. You will actively be taking care of two or more kids at the same time. It will involve feeding them and taking care of their every need. You would need to provide them with activities so they don’t get bored and start throwing tantrums. It would be advisable to get as much information first regarding how a daycare works before actually starting your own.

These are the Things You Should Prepare For:

Here are a few steps you would need to do once you have decided to open your own daycare center.

1.	Location. You would need to find the proper location for your daycare. You can choose to open you daycare in your own home or in a commercial building. Choose the one where people can access you the most and where you will be comfortable working in.

2.	Be aware of the laws and policies regarding daycare. Every place will have specific guidelines regarding child care. Be sure you are complying with these guidelines; you may need to get certified along with your possible employees regarding CPR and first aid which is very important. You must also follow all building codes and safety codes set by the local government to prevent any untoward accidents. Have your place inspected regularly so you are sure that you are up to par with the laws.

3.	Know what services is offered by your daycare. Take some courses on child care development and other child development seminars so you would be able to handle the children properly and help facilitate their growth. Children have different learning needs and knowing different learning styles will add to the benefits your daycare can offer and at the same time maximize the learning of the kids under your care.

4.	Get the necessary license and permits together with the insurance in order. You would need to contact your local government and see what license and permits you will need to operate your daycare business. They will be able to provide you with information on what you need to get approved for a permit and license. Be sure you have all the requirements and accomplish the forms correctly so you can get your permits as soon as possible. You would also need to get insurance to protect you and your employees. If your daycare is going to be located in your house, you need to review your home policy and see if you can extend the coverage or if you need a new set of policy. This will make sure that you are covered in case of any accidents or any liabilities.

5.	Marketing and advertising. In order to get clients for your daycare you will need to let the public know your business exists. You can give out fliers or put ads on the news paper. You also have the option of putting up ads on community boards. You can use the internet as well in posting ads. Be creative in your advertisement. Inform them of what you can offer that others can’t. Think of ways that will make parents inquire about your services.

6.	Know your Market. Before you even go about doing all this things make sure you have the market. It would be foolish to start a daycare when there are no kids to be taken cared of. Luckily daycare services demand is on the rise but you will still to research if you can open up another daycare in your area. Learn about your competition and what they are offering. You have to be competitive with them or you might end up closing your doors. You have to be able to provide good quality service at the same time be able to charge a reasonable price for the service.

7.	Plus factor. Be unique with your daycare and have that plus factor that would entice parents to choose your daycare instead of your competitors. You might want to consider a fitness program for kids as well. Usually people think that fitness programs are for adult. Children also require some kind of fitness program to stay healthy. Research on physical activities for children that you can offer in your daycare. You can incorporate this in their schedule for the day.

These are just a few of the things you will be doing to make your daycare business prosper. There are is a lot of materials that you can use to learn about this business. Read and study as much as you can so that you have a full understanding of how the business works. Be sure that you plan out everything from start to finish. Have a working plan prepared so that you will not get lost in your preparations in opening a daycare service.

Opening your own daycare business is not cheap but need not be that expensive either. You have to find good ways of finding the materials and equipment you will be using . Include this in your plan. Find out if you will be purchasing desk and chairs or will you just be renting the equipments that you will be using. Make a good sound business plan.

In cases where finances are not that good for you, having a good business plan will be very helpful in getting a financial institution to bank roll you. If you have a good business plan and a really feasible one, there is a big chance they can provide you with a loan that you can use to create you dream into reality.

Planning is everything. If everything is well planned there is no reason for you to fail in you business venture of opening your own daycare business.

Starting your own daycare business can be exciting. But before you set up your business, some necessary requirements are needed to be accomplished. Your business may be small, but nonetheless, it is still a business. And in doing so, careful planning is needed; there are certain rules and regulations that must be met if you plan to start your own daycare center.

Before you can actually start getting clients and earning money, you must gather all the essential data and make yourself an excellent business plan. This is used to determine the steps needed for you to start and manage your daycare business. Decide first if this is something that you really want to do. If you are great with kids, then this business is probably the one for you. Of course, this is very different from the babysitting that you used to do back then; this is a formal business that has professional expectations needed to be met. If you are really determined to start your daycare center, then you can now start making your business plan.

There are a lot of things to consider in setting up your business. How big you want the center to be, and the amount of man power needed is of primary concern. If you plan to cater big throngs of children then hiring extra caregivers are necessary.

Where you want the business to be located is also in the business plan. Will it just be an extension of you house, or will it need a separate building? Is the location accessible by all? Will there be parents willing to put their kids in daycare available in the area? These questions are vital in choosing the site of your daycare business.

The mission and vision of your establishment should also be reflected in the business plan. Funding analysis as well as the capital needed must also be shown. The furniture, gadget, and other basic necessities needed to start your business must be detailed in you plan.

In making your business plan, you must confer to the rules and regulations established in your state that govern daycare businesses. There are certain laws that you must know if you plan to continue in operation. And like any business, your business also needs insurance. Check out the insurance policy required by your state. Research the legal coverage and the costs of such and include this in your business plan.

You also need to do some market research. How much do other daycare services ask for? Do they give special packages and bonuses? Staying on par against your competition and how you plan to sell your business must also be included in you plan.

Having a concrete business plan can help you a lot as you start in your new business venture. T acts like a blueprint and guide on how to start and manage your business. If all goes well, you will be able to enjoy the perks of having intricately made your business plan.

Probably the most difficult thing about starting a business is wondering how you can stand out and be different from others. Set goals – do you want to be the biggest center in the year 2010? Or would you simply have: the kids love going to your day care?

The thought of putting up your own daycare business can be quite thrilling. But before you advertise your new business venture, you must think first of all the things needed to put up this type of business. Creating a daycare business is not simply converting a part of your house in to a playpen for children; it is a strict business that has a lot of laws that govern it.

First and foremost, you must make yourself of a business plan: this lays out all the details you need in order for you to establish, run, and maintain you daycare services. You must really be sure of yourself that you want a daycare center as a business before you start to make the business plans. It would be a waste of time and effort if you suddenly change your mind midway.

Do you really want to start up a daycare center? Do you like taking care of children? Do you have what it takes to take care of other people’s children? Are you one hundred percent sure that you are determined enough to start and run a business venture?

Bear in mind that a daycare center is entirely different from the babysitting you used to do back then. The daycare is an in-demand business that entails a great deal of dedication to manage it successfully. You must consider up to how many children you can cater at a time, and if you plan on hiring additional staff and for which particular role.

Now that you are a hundred percent sure of yourself that you will open such a business, and then you can begin drafting your business plan. It should contain pertinent data regarding your business. It will act like a blueprint and framework to your business. Where you plan to do the business, the mission and vision of the center, the analysis and break down of the costs and finances must be reflected in the business plan.

Jot down anything and everything that you think can help your business and sustain it. Include also plans for improvement for your daycare business.

You should also do a thorough market research regarding the demand and supply of daycare centers in your community. Are there plenty of children in the area? Are the parents willing to send their children to daycare centers?

Check out the feasibility of your proposed daycare center and see if it is actually possible to do it. Get all the necessary information regarding market research and gathered data so as to know if your business is a good venture to begin with.

Do a rough estimate of all the things that you will need before starting up your business. Insurances, furniture, playpens, food, and other necessities needed should be properly estimated so as to know the needed capital in starting the daycare. Make sure, also, to take care of all the necessary paperwork so as to make sure that your establishment is legal and following safety rules and precautions.
