Childcare is seen as one of the most important things that parents should not neglect especially when it come to their daily lives. Children do need to be taken care all the time this is why most parent just choose to send their children in a day care center. But before you react, there is a reason behind this. Parents these days do make it a point to prepare for the future of their children. Especially with the way that they economy if going, there is no way that parents can get away with lying around in their homes. This is why they are forced to work and left with no choice but to send their child in a day care.

But of course, as with any decision that you make, you need to be sure that you this is the right one. You may think that your child is ready for a day care center, but the real question should be “Is he?”. Your decisions are often useless if your child does not want to cooperate. This is why you need to know if your child is ready for a day care before deciding on doing so.

The first thing that you have to do is to analyze the way that your child reacts. You need to know if your child is ready to be separated from you. If you leave your child with a family member or a relative, assess if he cries or if it is okay with him. This will more or less give you an idea if you can leave your child in another setting where you are not there. If you think that he is comfortable with the idea, then more or less it is safe to leave him in a day care center without crying so much.

The second thing is to observe if your child is open to communication to other children. When you bring your child in the public park or to an amusement park, observe if your child willingly interacts with the other children. There are some children who so do not actually want to talk or share their things to other children. This is what you should avoid because these can cause trouble to the day care center. But if your child is friendly or is open to the idea of having to talk to other children, then there is no problem for you. He will have an easier time interacting with the other kids in the day care.

Lastly, the way that your child adapts to a new environment is very important. Enrolling your child in a day care means that his daily routine should change. This means that he will be spending most of his days in a day care rather than at home. This is something which your child should get used to. He needs to be able to change with the environment as soon as possible so that he can work effectively in the day care. He needs to be able to cope up with the new environment and the people whom he is dealing with or else, he will never be ready for a day care.

If you think that your child is not yet ready for a day care, there is nothing that should worry you. Your child might still be attached to you, but you need to grown apart. It is time that your child learns how to be independent and it is your responsibility to do so. You can slowly talk to your child and train him to be independent. You need to explain to him why you have to send him in a day care center. Make sure that he understands your point. This will prepare him for the idea or having to face everyday without you by his side. You can choose to leave him to your relatives at first. He needs to have a feel of how it is to go on with his daily life without you around. This will help him adjust to the idea that other people are in charge of taking care of him. This is why it is best to start with relatives because at least he will be comfortable with the people that he will stay with.

One advantage that this brings you is that he will learn how to talk to other people too. He will not be afraid to converse with other people, whether his age or older people. This can be a good start if you want to develop the social skills of your child. You do not have to worry about this because as long as your child is already open to the idea of talking with other people, trust that he will be able to talk with other people in the day care.

Then, after a week or two weeks, you can now gauge if he is adjusting to the change in the environment. You will notice that your child will not have any complaints or so when you send him there. Then this may be the time that you can send your child in a day care.

Remember that you need to brief your child when it comes to sending him to a day care. He needs to know everything there is to expect in a day care. These include the lessons that he will be learning, things that he will do as well as the people whom he will interact with. Do not scare your child, but make the idea more interesting for him.

Although it can still be hard to leave him for the first day, preparing him will make is easier for you. You can expect that your child will not cry as you leave him there. This can really be a lot less stressful for you. Just make sure that you tell him that you will come back for him so that he will not feel scared that you will leave him alone in a day care. With the right preparation, you will surely be able to send your child in a day care center while you work to ensure a bright future for him.

Aside from learning about a child’s ability to adapt in an external environment, parents when considering childcare facilities should be familiarized with the activities, standard and safety of the daycare facilities presented to them. A good-quality daycare facility of choice does not need to be expensive; it may be a daycare facility in the neighborhood, which offers individualized attention, focused to the child like those larger daycare facilities.

1. You should start training the child on being away from the parents in order to prepare them for a daycare program. This should be done by assigning a known babysitter or family member to look after the child and explain to them that the parents need to stay away for a period of time, in order to work. Upon choosing a child-minder, you should consider the child’s need for a gentle, loving but firm presence. This is because a first impression influences the child’s ability to adjust to a more controlled environment such as a daycare facility. Ask other parents for babysitter recommendations – avoid those who have several bad reports.

2. If the other parents were not able to guide you, refer to a child specialist, the yellow pages or maybe the Social Services Department to obtain the list of daycare providers that are licensed within your area. When you have chosen a daycare provider, make sure you go to the place along with the child to inspect the facilities.

3. Take the child around the daycare to explore the facilities. Most daycare providers are glad to let new or potential enrollees play freely all over the place to experience the new atmosphere. Encourage the child to interact with the staff and play with other children in the daycare.

4. Meet all those who would be interacting with the child regularly. At first, the child may feel homesick. Spend more time and talk to them about how good it is to learn by themselves. Shift your focus on the positive aspects but take into consideration the negative aspects too (day care employees’ background checks, compliance issues, hygiene, safety) to make sure that your son or daughter is in the best day care!

5. You can ask permission from the day care’s authorities if your children can bring along with them their blanket or favorite toy during the first days of their stay there so they will feel more comfortable in the new environment. Most day care centres will agree to this and this can make your child’s adjustments easier, smooth and fun- filled for both the child and the parents.

Before your child begins his first day in school, it is good for you to know some few more stuff that will make your child more successful in his early studies.

First, try to figure out whether there is a registration deadline in the school where you want your child to attend his pre-school. Usually, schools have quotas into how many students could they accept. It will be best for you to inquire about the registration policies of the school and their procedures for admission.

Next, try to know the school where you will enrol the child. Do this before school begins. Inquire at the school and do not just rely on what the other parents are saying. Some of the pertinent things that you might want to know are the following: the name of the principal, the necessary forms that have to be filled out, how they operate their kindergarten, the academic calendar, what is the schedule for the kindergarten, and their canteen services. Oftentimes, schools are giving out this information even without you inquiring about it. Orientation of parents are usually being conducted prior the enrolment. However, if the school does not give out this information, it will be good if you ask them for it.

Find out as well about what are the expectations of the school for the kindergarten students. If you know about this, you will be able to better prepare your child. Or if you do not think that the school’s expectations are not right for your child, you could still search for other schools that will fit your child.

It will also be good if you will visit the school first and tour it with your child. By doing this, you and child will be familiarized about the school facilities as well as where they are located. Make your child observe the children while they are inside their classrooms.

Psyche up your child about school by talking to him. Make them feel how fun it is to be in school. Also, make the feel excited about it when you are at home by making your child feel that entering school is indeed a special event. Talk to him as well about the teachers that he will have. Make sure to make them feel not fearful about their teachers but remind them to listen to them and respect them. It is also very vital that you make your child know the importance of not being absent in class.

As part of your preparation, you might also want to think about volunteering in the school. Volunteering in the school is one of the best ways by which you could be more familiarized about the school where your child is studying. It will also be an opportunity for you to meet the other school staff and other parents. More than that, this will surely be appreciated by the teachers in the school since they will have some assistance in doing the child supervision.

Bring your child on his first day in school. However, do not stay there for too long.

You must also be patient. Keep in mind that several children do get overwhelmed at their start in school. Some do not get to like school right away leading them to cry while in classroom. However, they will get comfortable soon with your support and with the guidance from the teacher.
