Sending your child to a day care is not only hard for your child but also for you. There are so many things which you have to consider as you pick a day care for your child. But no matter which day care you choose, you need to make sure that you hire a childcare center that will provide your child with what he need and not what he wants. Each and every day care has its own policies and regulations, so it is best that you look into each to determine which will work best for your child’ development.

You can always your friends for reputable day care centers out there. If you have friends who are sending their child in a day care, you need to ask them for certain centers that give a satisfactory job for childcare. This is so much better than relying on advertisements online, because at least, you will be able to get information about the day care centers first hand. You can discuss things, your concerns as well as the pros and the cons of having your child sent in a day care center.

Another source of day care contacts is the Department of Social Services. They have a list of day care centers that they will provide you. These are usually licensed and reputable day care centers for you. If you want a trusted day care, this is a good place where you can get them.

When you have gotten the contact number, you may need to call them up and schedule a meeting. In the meeting, you can ask a bit of questions that will help you evaluate the day care. Get a list of programs and activities that your child will be ask to do. By taking a look at this, you will more or less get the idea of whether these will be very effective for the development of your child. If this is okay with you, then you can now proceed with the enrolment of your child in the day care.

It is very important that you prepare your child with the idea of sending him in a day care center. Do not just bring him there and leave him because this can cause him to undergo separation anxiety and throw tantrums in the day care center. The best thing that you should do is to talk to him and explain why he has to be sent there. Always build a positive image of the day so that it can excite him. Remember that children love it when they are excited about something so make sure to deal with in the best way possible. Allow him to bring a toy or a blanket that he can hold when he feels lonely. This will make it easier for him since children can go crazy when they miss their parents. Make sure that you know how to deal with this so that your child will find it easier to deal with these things and adapt to the environment of a day care center.

Opening your own child care facility is an interesting business venture that you might think of getting into. Children may seem easy to handle and if you love to be with kids, this may seem as your perfect dream job. Imagine working as your own boss, with flexible working hours, hand-picked staff and a lot more. This can instantly make your decision of setting up your day care facility. But is it really that simple? You might think that running a day care facility is the same as running a business which means that there are a lot of things which you need to keep in mind. If you want to know how you will be able to make your day care center a successful one, here are some of the steps which you might take.

The first thing that you should do and should never forget is to get your business license. Get your own copy of provincial or state application of a business license. There are guidelines which you need to follow in order for you to be eligible to open you own day care. You need to read through these before you apply. Getting license is very important since it gives your day care facility more credit. Parents will easily trust your day care facility when they see that you have a license. They will assume that your day care follows safety measure that are approved by the law so that their children are safe in your daycare. Even if there are some stated which do not really require you to get your own license, it is still best if you do.

When you are already ready to apply, you can now call up your licensing and planning department. It is important to know if they will allow you to open your own day care in your vicinity. Cases happen when people never really bother to ask and will then discover they have to close their business because of zoning bylaws. Of course you do not want this to happen to you.

If you have been allowed to do as you planned you must now proceed to your nest step. There are community colleges which offer courses on Early Childhood Education and Child Development. You will need these so that you will know how to deal with the children. There are certain departments which require you to take additional courses on child care so you need to comply with them. They may even recommend you to a school which offers a course suited to your needs. Besides from these educational courses, you need to obtain your own Child CPRS and First Aid Certificate. You should have your own since children are prone to accidents. It is important that you know how to take care of them in such events. Contact Red Cross and they can offer you with the proper training.

Get an insurance right away. You will need insurance for your business. Contact your insurance company and get an insurance that will include your business You need to insure your business and the children who enroll in your child care facility so make sure that you get the proper insurance.

Make a plan for your day care facility. It is very important to have an organized flow of daily activities for your day care. Make a set of policies which you and your staff will follow to ensure that you are running your business smoothly. You must be able to budget your time every day to ensure that the children are learning from your day care. You should make the most of each day with a number of activities that you have planned. From playing, studying napping and eating, each activity should have a schedule. A more organized day care will make it easier for you to reach your daily goals. You might want to refer to the internet since there are a lot of tips there which will help you in running your day care properly.

As the owner, it is important that you take care of your finances very well. You should have a financial plan that will make sure that they money you shell out will not be too much. Take note of all the expenses that you will need. Try not to make them too expensive. This will only cause you to incur losses rather than profit. So make sure that you monitor these things well. Planning your finances well will also help you in charging your customers. You don’t want to charge your customers with high fees because they might choose a cheaper day care. Make sure that you are charging the right amount for their services. This is why you need to make sure that your finances are really calculated.

You should be able to set up your day care facility depending on the number of children that you plan on accepting. You should be able to provide the right amount of free space for each child. If your day care is too crowded, you should rearrange the day care so that everyone has his own room to move. Besides from the space, you may need to ensure that your day care is safe for the child. The corners should be covered and sharp things should be kept away from them. This is very important since children are very explorative, you need to protect them from all the danger that they are exposed to.

When you are ready for operation, you need to make sure that you advertise your day care facility. You need to let the parents know that you are there to help them take care of their children. Do what it takes to let them know you exist. Post flyers, online, newspaper and bulletin ads about your day care. You do not have to spend so much on these things, just make sure that you are using effective advertising methods. You day care facility will make it big in no time.

Babies are too young to be enrolled in a daycare. So in lieu of enrolling your baby in a daycare, here are some tips that daycare centers do for toddlers.

These are the changes one should expect from a baby during the first year of their existence.

They start to develop their skills in language and communication. A few signs of these are when they make noises that come from their throats and their first cry. Then they speak their first word which is usually the words ‘dada’ and ‘mama’. After that they will make a lot of sounds and identify the names of those they regularly see. And they will start enjoying listening to same sounding words.

At this stage, they also learn how to gain body control. A few of these are holding their heads up, sit up by themselves, stand up on their own, roll over and in certain cases, walk.

They develop the awareness that they are different from others. They develop familiarity with their hands and feet. They develop the liking to play with their hands and feet. They start crying when their parents leave them to their nannies. They also start to become familiar with their names.

They start to play games. They begin by playing with both their hands. Then they progress to toys and play with toys in an “in and out’ motion. The next thing to expect is that they will carry toys around the house.

This is also the stage where they can relate to other people. The usually respond to grown-ups than to babies. But then later on they will start noticing other babies too. Although the will not see these other babies as human beings. But when these babies start making sounds, that’s when they will realize that these babies are humans too.

The Needs Of Babies
There are a lot of basics that babies need. Some of these are a lot of chances to hear people talk, making sounds and hear and see people respond by making sounds too. Parents who will show them a lot of loving; who will tend to them when they cry and make them feel safe from harm. The chance to move around and do new actions. Things that are safe enough for them to touch and look at closely. They need a safe area where they can play in.

Babies will gain your trust when they know that you are physically close to them, when they physically feel you and when they hear your voice always.

Music helps in the development of the baby. As you play music, slowly make some actions using your newborn baby’s extremities. It will also help if you tickle the baby near the neck and the stomach. When she starts showing that she can control her head, lay her on the floor and rest her head on you. When she starts reaching for any part of your face, just let her. Then as she touches it, you tell her what it is.

Put the baby on her belly. There are studies that conclude that this action helps release a chemical called endorphins which helps your baby feel at ease. This will also help in the development of her back and abdominal muscles which she will eventually need when she crawls.

Cuddle and sing a song to her. Hold the baby securely in your arms and against your chest or lay the baby on your lap facing you. Support the head with your hand always. Then sing to her a lullaby.

Do some happy things on a regular basis. Take for example the singing of lullabies. Make this a nightly thing before you tuck her in. You can rub her tummy.

When the baby starts to cry, pick her up right away. Make sure that you find out why she is crying. The normal reasons why babies cry is that they are wet, feeling hot, boredom or the most common of all, hunger. Remember that when she is crying, she is actually trying to communicate something to you. By comforting the baby, she will get the message that you do understand what she is feeling.

Singing an action is always entertaining to babies

When it comes to comforting her when she is upset, the best thing that you can do is to put on some music and take her safely in your arms and just smoothly glide inside the room. The dancing motion will comfort her. To heighten her amusement during her times of cheerfulness, put on a song with a bouncy beat.

Once babies open their eyes in the morning, they are already working in learning about the things they see. If you want to help them in this learning process, provide them things that they can see and touch. Make use of things that you find in your home will be good enough.

The basic things that you might need for the baby in her learning development are things that make rattling sounds like a bunch of keys or a handful of coins; wooden spoons with faces drawn on the head of it; a bunch of fabrics with different textures like velvet, fur, cotton, satin, microfiber and burlap; a roll of paper towels; safe kitchen utensils like pots; a purse that is no longer being used so that the baby can practice moving things in and out if the purse; measuring spoons and cups; containers made out of plastic and cartons; and big spools.

How To Use These Things

The first thing that you must do is to allow your baby to observe these things, then let her touch each of them, and to those that make sounds, allow her to listen to them. Put priority to things that can make noise, are brightly coloured and have varied textures.

Let your baby start with a maximum of two objects at a time. Place these two things in one particular area where the baby can have easy access to them.

These are some techniques that you can do at home to your baby because these are techniques practiced in daycare centres.

Parents must know what their daycare providers are thinking because more often than not, they are not telling what is in their mind. If you ask why, it is because they just do not want to hurt any feelings and of course they do not want to lose their business. Here are five things parents should know about daycare. Or shall I say at least five things every daycare provider should be telling the parents.

1.	Daycare service is a business and not baby sitting – I hate to say it, but some people call me a babysitter and I get angry with that. I am thinking, since when a baby sitter makes $90, 000 per year and I also did not know that baby sitters paid tax like I do.

2.	Daycare providers charge late fees – Late fees could be imposed on various reasons such as late payment, not picking up the child on time, and others. Everyone’s time is important and should be respected, and if not a late fee should be imposed.

3.	Providers are not housekeepers – Remember, it is not easy to clean up after someone else’s mess so this goes again with the respect issue.

4.	Boundaries and Rules for Parents – This is very important and this is always one of the complaints I hear from providers. From the very beginning the provider needs to establish a clear and definite boundary and if these rules are broken then there should be a consequence. If a provider does not maintain a rule enforcement or policy handbook, the parents will not know what the boundaries and guidelines are. With this, parents get frustrated and sometimes it implies that they do not respect the provider.

5.	Scrapes and Scratches will happen – Children who leave daycare looking clean just like when they arrived makes you think that they have not done anything all day! Remember that outside play, sandboxes, dirt, spaghetti, all involve a child’s curiosity to touch and explore. Along with this comes mess, so do not expect a child to be clean at the end of the day but they should not be terribly dirty either.

This article is meant to help all providers and parents as well so feel free to print and give to the parents you know. It is the goal of everyone to help parents to have a wonderful relationship with the daycare service provider they hired.

We will discuss the 10 things you should expect from a daycare center that takes care of your children while you’re away from home.

Each child care center, aside from the fact that they are there to take care of your children, has its own programs offered which are unique from each other. The facility of each child care center is budget- dependent. Most child care centers can provide different activities for their clients. There are some centers that have the least capacity to organize activities. But no matter how much the allotted operating budget is for a child care center, you can still count on these 10 things that the centers must provide:

1. Accessibility-A center that allows parents to walk- in at any time or day. The center is supposed to allow parents to make any amount of reasonable phone calls to ensure the safety of their child. There should not be a schedule for parents to make phone calls or a limit on the number of calls made by parents in a day.

2. Child Security – A safe environment should be the priority in a child care center. Be sure that all precautions are taken to ensure that your child is safe. This include plugging electrical sockets, keeping knives and sharp objects in a safe place far from the reach of children, closing off stairways and using only safe and well maintained equipment, keeping the center smoke-free. When traveling, be sure that the provider should always use safety seats and belts.

3. Integrity And Assurance – The child care center must assure the parents of the things they know that they can promise to fulfill. Empty promises are a no-no in daycare centers. The children’s safety is at risk here. As parents, you must be rest assured of the safety of you children in the daycare centers. Personal information, or any information about you or the children must not be disclosed to anyone else but you.

4. Complying With Requests – The centers must be open to any possibility of parents having special requests for their children. They should make every effort to comply with the wishes of the parents. These may be as simple as the food the child will eat, activities the child will or won’t participate in and any special care that needs to be given to the child. Should the parents have requests which are hard to fulfill, a compromise should be made that has been well thought of.

5. Advance Announcements – Should the child care center have any changes in schedule or plans, the child center provider should give the parents an advance notice of these. In this way, the parents can make plans to have the child moved to another center if they are not available on certain days.

6. No Family Involvement – The provider or the child care center should not talk to the child about any problems the parents may be having. Involvement with personal matters is not part of the day care center’s services. This is a psychologist’s job. The sole responsibility of the provider is to care for the child, the safety of the children and to look out for them when the parents are away.

7. Don’t Criticize the Parents – The method of raising the children must never be assessed by the provider. The provider must not tell the parents what is right or what is wrong with how they brought up their children. Let the parents open up to seek for advice in taking care of their children.

8. Certified Staff- The provider should assure the parents that they have certified child care aide and a trustworthy staff. The parents should be informed regarding the qualifications when hiring staff such as the screening process everyone goes through upon application.

9. Constant Communication – The center must always maintain constant communication with the parents. Regular reports of the children’s progress or lack of it must be done to make the parents aware of the situation of their children. The parents have the right to be kept informed regarding all activities the child participate in and those which they find it hard to do.

10. No Room for Surprises – Lastly, the provider should tell always the parents should impromptu incidents happen. It is the parents right to know all the things which are happening in the daycare center- just as how they would if they are the ones taking care of their children. This serves the purpose of bringing their children to a daycare center- to be their eyes when they could not look after their children.

Starting your daycare business can be financially rewarding if you do all the right things needed in this type of business. There is always a market for this type of business as more and more parents work full time, making it necessary for them to leave their children to daycare centers.

Daycare business involves kids, a lot of kids so it is necessary that you enjoy being with them aside from knowing how to handle them. While caring for a number of children can be fun, there will also be times when you find your hands full as they have various needs to be fulfilled. Children will be playing around so the risk of having some minor accidents will always be present. It is necessary, therefore, that first aid kits are readily available in your facility and that you or someone else have the proper training to administer them.

Toys are a must in a daycare center. They keep the children occupied and busy, having fun and learning at the same time. Think of having toys that will be educational but also safe for the children. Dangerous toys must be avoided at all cost. Hard toys, when thrown at a child, can knock him down. You must also make sure that the toys do not contain any harmful chemical that could affect the health of the children under your care.

Books are necessary in a daycare facility. Children enjoy when books are read to them; they have fun and they learn at the same time. Show them books with colorful pictures and make them interact with what they saw.

State regulations require sleeping mats for daycare centers. The children under your care must be provided with afternoon nap as this will refresh them and give them renewed energy for the rest of the day.

Photos of the children’s parents or guardians must be kept in the daycare center. You need to make sure that the person picking up a child at the end of the day is the right person. You do not entrust the child under your care to strangers who will claim that they are the relatives or friends of the parents. To avoid this kind of situation, you must require parents to submit the names and photos of persons who are authorized to pick up the child from your daycare center. This could be done right during the enrolment period.

Daycare centers can be financially rewarding aside from giving you the enjoyment of being with children but it comes with a lot of responsibilities which you can easily handle if you know what you need to stay in business.
