Are you very passionate with children? Do you dream of a job having to work with kids? Handling kids, aside from being a big responsibility, is a very daunting task. Childcare providers foster and teach children in childcare centers, pre-schools, public schools, childcare homes, private households and some other places.

Besides having basic education and passion for teaching, childcare workers must have high level of patience and endurance in handling kids. Nowadays, many theories are being raised on teaching and child-rearing methods. There have been ongoing controversies on what method best be used and the facilities helpful in childcare. Thus, childcare workers must know all matters about childcare and the fundamentals of tending to children of all ages, ranging from infants to school-goers.

A day care provider, be it a director or part of the teaching staff, must complete the basic training to get a license in childcare service. He, also, will be needing a national certification in paediatric CPR and First-Aid to ensure that safety and emergency medical aid will be provided for children at all times more importantly for day care centers located away from any health care facility. When the place takes quite long for an ambulance to reach, initial medical treatment must be provided when necessary. This is in line on keeping the children safe and healthy.

The Red Cross organizes training programs about attending to emergency and medical aid to those far from hospitals. Having basic training about this matter increases your chances in getting a hold of the job.

Other qualifications include having a degree in secondary education about child development or psychology. Universities and colleges offer day care programs that are very useful when applying for a childcare job. It is important, however, for any licensed daycare service provider to have proof of continuing education credits to qualify for their license. This proves that they are interested in being informed of the latest in childcare and the more advanced techniques in handling children. This involves attending seminars, conferences and other activities that keep them abreast about the newest trends in childcare. This means gaining more knowledge in the field and thus suggests more advantage to your side.

Need for Child Day Care Providers
The number of working women is now continually increasing. Also families having both parents working is increasing thus they do not have so much time looking after their children. Most of the parents are too busy are too busy to attend to the needs of their kids. Thus they look for professional that can do the childcare task for them while they are away. There is a rise therefore in the demand of child care services.

Children interact with the child care professional several hours a day. Parents, therefore, are looking for the person of good influence and who can help in the growth of their child’s emotional, intellectual and social aspect. They choose someone who is responsible enough and is very passionate with kids. Before going to work, they need an assurance that they will be leaving their kids in good hands and that their kids will be properly tended to.

Daily Life of a Childcare Worker

Here is what a child day care worker does in a typical day.

•	Prepare a schedule of activities for the day
•	Plan and Organize the activities
•	Serve snacks
•	Ensure that the children properly eat their meals
•	Play with the kids
•	Clean the playrooms
•	Accompany children when going to toilets
•	Tell stories
•	Teach children
•	Maintain the sanitation of the center
•	Handle emergencies

Childcare workers do not only work for preschool children and toddlers but also for older kids after school. They also handle and feed the infants and play with the babies. Also part of the job is teaching the children and helping them complete their homework.

Abilities, Skills & Personal Qualities of a Child Day Care Professional

Why is a Childcare Training Necessary?

Being in a daycare business, knowledge of proper childcare and assistance is essential. Your staff must receive effective training on handling children and must be well-informed of their needs. In undergoing the training you will learn tips on running day care centers, know about child psychology and acquire skills beneficial to your business.

Here are some of the things you learn in a day care training course.

Many colleges offer courses on childcare management but choose one that would not just give proper training but will also help you find a job. Consider the following things in choosing a childcare course.

1.	Is the diploma you will be receiving accredited?
2.	Will the course or program aid you in running your own day care center?
3.	Is the faculty credible and experienced?
4.	Do they have internship programs?
5.	Will they assist you in finding a job after the program end?
6.	What career opportunities do they offer?

In the previous year, 1.5 million jobs were given to childcare workers. Around 40% of them were self-employed and others worked part-time. Here is a list of the organization that employs child care professionals.

1.	Child Daycare services
2.	Social and civic organizations
3.	Educational services
4.	Individual and family services
5.	Recreation and amusement industries
6.	Primary educational services
7.	Residential care and nursing facilities

The salary of the Child Care professional is dependent on the set-up he is working in. It usually ranges from $20,000 to $40,000 a year. With experience and specialization, he can sooner be the director of the child care service and earnings will be of a much higher value.

Job involving kids is very demanding yet truly fulfilling. Since there’s a growing need for responsible and skilled child care providers, getting a course about childcare service management is a very practical step.

You probably have several reasons for choosing to hire the services of a family daycare other than other types of daycare available. This is due to the fact that ther ar countless experiences when it comes to the various risks and dangers children face at childcare facilities.

1. You can take advantage of quality care from a family daycare. Children will experience how it is to be treated like a true family member since the setting is just in a typical home. Children can also be given all the attention that they need and can therefore form bonds within the whole family daycare as well. Entering a family daycare can also help the child become accustomed to dealing with other types of people other than his or her immediate family which will help him or her become much more independent and sociable.

2. Family daycare services offers activities and educational knowledge. It is so much easier to work in a small group and create crafts and the like and play games as well. The caregiver will be able to help kids work on basic skills, and will be more involved with their safety and concerns. This can assist a child turn into a more confident, as well as to master basic skills for their age group.

3. You can enjoy field trips and outings in a family daycare center. Some activities that you can enjoy can be as simple as shopping and many others as well. You can have a much more enjoyable time doing this as well.

4. It is convenient to enter a family daycare because it has flexible rules and regulations. Compared to corporate centers, a family day care situated in the home may not charge you for being a couple of minutes behind or missing a day of care. They may even be keen to care for children for minor illnesses, allowing you to still report for work. They are usually more willing to work with you when there is a problem or conflict.

5. A family day care provider will get to be familiar with your child better than a well-built center. They will be more patient with your child, and will learn to handle their temper. A family day care giver will also be more receptive to your child’s needs. They will give more attention to allergies or special diets, and more thoughtful and reliable when dealing with unusual problems.

Overall, a family day care is the ultimate option for many thoughtful parents. A family day care provider can turn into a valuable friend and caregiver, and can help your child regulate without you better than a great facility. Your child will be a person in a family day care, not just a source of income.

Certain Illnesses that can keep my child out of Daycare

Several information on the most common illnesses that can be acquired by children in daycare like hand, foot and mouth disease, fifths disease, and ringworm.

Fifths Disease-Erythema Infectiosum
Also known as “slapped face disease” this common illness normally develops on a child’s face and is triggered by a certain type of virus that can make the face appear to be reddish.

Should my child go to daycare?
You can bring your child to the daycare of choice even if he or she is already contacted with this type of illness. This is because once the facial rash develops, chances are, it no longer becomes contagious. The first manifestations of this type of illness include fever, sore throat, and flu so chances are they could be absent for a couple of days from their daycare. (This is also the time that this type of disease can be considered contagious).

Ringworm-
Ringworm isn’t really caused by any type of fungus that creates a round or circular shape on the body. This type of disease can be acquired when you come into contact with a person who has one or when you come into contact with an animal that has sores.

Should my child go to daycare?
If your child has ringworm, it would definitely be much better not to take him or her to the daycare.

Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease-
According to the Centers for Disease Control and prevention, hand, foot and mouth disease does not have any close connection with the foot and mouth disease normally contacted in cattle and other farm animals. The first manifestations of this type of disease include fever, rashes that may normally form on hands, feet, mouth and tongue that eventually makes it sore. This type of disease is also most commonly acquired during summer and fall.

Should my child go to daycare?
The obvious answer is definitely no. When your child has all or even just one type of disease, it isn’t advisable for you to take him or her to the daycare. This type of disease can be considered to be contagious for the first few days and can easily be acquired by other children. Treatment is not necessary, and the infection usually clears up after a week- a week and a half.*

Most Common Daycare Illnesses

Summer illnesses at Day Care
Of course the summer is season is nothing but fun and excitement as you get to spend more time swimming and playing outside. However, summer is also looked at as a time for developing certain types of illnesses and the like. Why is this the case, you’re probably wondering.

Most children dread being sick during the summer since this is their only time to play under the sun and frolic. However, summer indeed brings about various types of illnesses and this has been the case for many years now. To prove this claim, it has also been reported that this June, three possible cases of mumps were recorded in a Vancouver Center, as well as stomach flu, fever and other more.

Certain types of illnesses most commonly spread during this time because children tend to be enrolled to other daycare centers. Since children are not yet well adjusted to their new environment, chances are, they become more prone to certain types of illnesses.

Hygiene can also be looked at as another cause of acquiring various types of illnesses. When you come to think of it, symptoms of illnesses can more easily be recognized during winter. When a child is contacted with colds and cough, chances are it is common and easy to claim that such illness is due to unparalleled hygiene. However, during summer, causes of diseases can be very difficult to pinpoint making germs much easier to spread. Proper hygiene is definitely necessary even more when you deal with children because their immune system is much more delicate.

Certain types of diseases can also be most commonly contacted outside the daycare center and not necessarily inside the daycare center itself. Summer is a hectic time for many families-filled with summer reading programs at the local library, swimming in a neighborhood pool, sports camps, and simply playing at a friend’s house. These children may acquire germs which they and their daycare friends have no acquired immunity to- and thus be unable to fight off.

While many parents may breathe a sigh of relief that the winter months are over and their kids can get exercise outside, teachers and parents still need to be aware of the continued need to enforce hygiene rules and guard against unwanted germs.

Daycare Illness Ways to Prevent Them

A Guideline for Employee’s and Parents

For some of us our Children have to go to daycare, we have no choice. Money has to be made. And we all know that your child is going to get sick when around other children, and most sickness when young is good for the child because it helps build their immune system. But there are lot of illnesses that can be prevented in daycare and in home settings just by remembering to wash hands and surfaces.

Make sure to properly wash your hands, use warm water and liquid soap, rub hands together and scrub all over even under fingernails. Rinse and then use paper towels only, because fabric towels can hold bacteria. And you should wash your hands before you start work, eat, helping with an injury, preparing or serving food.

When changing diapers, use good hygiene and prepare by thoroughly cleaning the area before and after each use, as well as having an area to wash hands, and clean supplies near by. This area is a high traffic area for germs to spread and thrive.

Before each changing there should be a fresh sheet of paper on the table, The disposable paper will help with the spreading of germs, disposable gloves is a great idea as well, I would not even offer cloth diapers as a option for your daycare. And remember after each and every change disinfect the station and your hands, you may have a busy day, but it is important to sanitize in between each individual changing.
